You’ve wasted hours.
Buy yourself a second.

2027 contains 31,536,000 seconds. A birthday, an anniversary or a new beginning can give one of them a meaning only you can bring. Choose the exact instant and attach your dedication; approved stories join the year’s broadcast at their selected UTC time.

You are buying a digital display slot, not ownership of physical time, property or an investment. The personal card is a record of your selected moments; it does not grant rights beyond the display service described at checkout.

After verified payment, your selected instant is assigned exclusively to your order within Buy a Second. That exact second cannot be assigned to another order. Your personal card records the moment, your name and your dedication.

This exclusivity applies to participation in the project. The card does not confer ownership of time or guarantee resale value. A preview or saved draft does not assign a second; content still needs approval before display.

Choose a starting date and time in the calendar. Select your duration, then add it to your order. You can combine different dates in the same order, add your name or brand, upload an image and write a message of up to 140 characters.

Normal seconds cost €1 each. The total is calculated from the number of selected seconds: 10 seconds cost €10 and one minute costs €60. You can save an order draft and download a preview card now. Purchases become available once checkout is opened.

Yes. Choose consecutive seconds to keep the same content on screen for longer, or select separate moments throughout the year. Your order can contain multiple selections, all with the same name, image and message.

Selections cannot overlap, extend outside 2027, or include iconic minutes reserved for separate bidding. Availability is checked again at checkout, so a draft or preview card does not guarantee a slot.

In 2027, your moments will light up city screens in New York, Shanghai and London: a continuous projection, 24 hours a day, for all 365 days of the year.

Each approved moment appears at its selected UTC time, as part of one shared year of stories. The homepage billboard illustrates the experience.

The project plans to donate the proceeds from seconds on World Diabetes Day, November 14, to diabetes research, after deducting fees and costs. The beneficiary organisation will be announced by December 31, 2026. Checkout is not open yet; no donation has been collected through this site.

Yes. Brands and communities have meaningful moments too: a first opening, a founding date, a milestone or a thank-you to the people who made it possible. They can share that story with a name, image and dedication, under the same review and content rules as everyone else.

You must have permission to use the name, logo, image and other material you submit. Participation does not imply a partnership with Buy a Second or permission to use another brand’s identity.

We do not accept images or messages involving violence, propaganda, illegal activities, abuse or drugs. This includes threats, graphic violence, extremist or political propaganda, hate speech, harassment, exploitation, sexual abuse, and content promoting illegal acts or drug use and sales.

These rules apply equally to text, photographs, illustrations, memes, logos and brand campaigns. An image or message must not evade the rules through symbols, coded wording or references.

Submitting an order or completing a payment does not automatically approve its content. Material that breaches the policy will not be displayed.

Yes. Submitted content must be reviewed and approved before it can appear in the public broadcast or on the city screen. Payment status and content approval are separate: paying does not bypass review.

If material is not suitable, it must be changed before it can be approved. The final review, replacement and refund procedures will be published with the purchase terms before checkout opens.

All moments use UTC. The same second therefore refers to one global instant, regardless of where you are. Check the difference between UTC and your local time before choosing birthdays, anniversaries or other meaningful moments. Your device’s local time zone does not change the selected slot.

Some special moments, the first and last minutes of 2027, Christmas at 00:00, Valentine’s Day at 14:00 and September 11 at 11:11 (all UTC), are designated as iconic minutes. Each package includes all 60 consecutive seconds and cannot be split. They are separate from normal €1 purchases and cannot be added to a normal order.

The current bid feature is a preview only. Bidding will open after the rules, deadline, payment arrangements and treatment of unsuccessful bids have been published.

No. A draft stores your selections and content so you can return to them in the same browser. Only starting an enabled checkout can place a temporary hold; assignment becomes final after the payment is verified.

The system checks the shared availability of the selected seconds before creating a payment. If checkout expires without payment, the hold is released after its status is confirmed. A card marked “preview” is not proof of a purchase.

You receive an order confirmation and a downloadable card recording your selected moments. Your image and message remain subject to review before display. The final display coverage and archive arrangements will be stated in the purchase terms.

Your email address is for your order and will not be shown as part of your public message. Saved orders can currently be accessed from the browser in which you created them; cross-device account access is not yet available.
